ROBERT J. CURCIO

Robert J. Curcio (“R.J.”) is the Managing Partner at Curcio & Casciato, where he represents individuals and families in catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, trucking, medical malpractice, premises liability, and product liability litigation throughout Illinois.

R.J. has earned a reputation for handling complex, high-exposure cases involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death. His notable results include a $30 million settlement on behalf of a mother and daughter struck by a commercial vehicle while crossing a Chicago street, a record setting $12.5 million settlement on behalf of a central Illinois woman who was the victim of medical malpractice, a $9.125 million wrongful death settlement in the Central District of Illinois, a $5.5 million settlement for a woman pinned between two vehicles after a tractor-trailer struck parked cars, a $3.7 million jury verdict for a woman injured by a vehicle fleeing the Chicago Police Department, and a $1.5 million recovery for a teenager who lost his leg in a train collision.

In addition to his litigation practice, R.J. is increasingly recognized as an emerging voice in the evolving intersection of technology and product liability law. He currently serves as Chair of the Technology Committee for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and has testified before the Illinois General Assembly regarding legislation addressing artificial intelligence and whether chatbots should be treated as products for purposes of strict liability. As artificial intelligence continues to reshape society and create new legal questions, R.J. has become a sought-after commentator and advocate regarding the rights of individuals harmed by emerging technologies.

R.J.’s practice is concentrated in trucking and commercial vehicle litigation, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, product liability, premises liability, and other catastrophic injury matters. Since 2026, R.J. has been selected as a Leading Lawyer after being awarded an Emerging Lawyer from 2020 to 2025, an honor reserved for the top 2.5% of Illinois attorneys under the age of 40 or in practice for less than ten years. He has also been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers. R.J. serves on the Board of Managers for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, where he works alongside fellow trial lawyers to protect and advance the rights of injured individuals across the state.
